Vidara Nederland, part of the multinational Ravago Group, distributes ingredients and raw materials for food, pharma and cosmetics. With customer demands ranging from one drum to a full truck load, short lead times and a lot of rules and regulations, logistics here goes well beyond moving goods from A to B.
Vidara’s first answer to a customer is almost always yes. Whether that promise can be kept depends on the partners behind it.
“We can only keep our promises to customers with the right partners.”
Signed in the office, proven on the floor
The deal between Trasegro and Vidara was closed by managers. But a contract only moves goods if the people on the receiving end use it. Vidara’s inbound supply chain team didn’t choose Trasegro. They had to do more than accept the new partner: they had to work with the team of Trasegro, day after day, on real shipments, with out of the ordinary complexities and with real deadlines.
That is where a contract turns into a partnership. Vittorio Alfarez, Manager Supply Chain at Vidara, sees the difference in daily practice: you can hand over a shipment to Trasegro without getting thirty questions back. They just fix it.
What not every carrier can do
Vidara’s range doesn’t suit every transporter. Many only drive full truck loads, while Vidara also needs transport for smaller volumes, non-standardized out of the ordinary transport lanes, ADR bulk and cooled loads, plus repacking and filling. Add rules like PPWR and CBAM, and the supply chain quickly gets complicated.
Over the fence
Trasegro takes on the shipment, and Vidara hears from them when the goods are almost at the warehouse. Take for example the inbound lane from Turkey. According to Vittorio, around 70% of transporters refuse cargo from there. Trasegro’s answer: “We’ll handle it.”
And they take responsibility. When Trasegro didn’t organise the right vehicle with a tail lift for a pallet pickup, they took responsibility and arranged a separate transport, at their own cost.
“Nothing is too crazy for them. Sometimes a request is unrealistic, but they always look into it and do their best.”
Still personal
Despite Trasegro’s growth, the relationship has stayed remarkably informal and personal.
“For everything except ordinary, you need Trasegro.”
