How hard can it be?
Sjoerd started digging into the problem. He made calls, reached out, and refused to give up. A firm “Non, Monsieur” was not an answer he was willing to accept. Just over a week later, the shipment was delivered.
Sjoerd is a natural networker, perhaps something he picked up during his years in hospitality. The French transport rescue didn’t go unnoticed. Before long, more companies with complex logistics challenges found their way. And so, Trasegro began its journey.
Now, 13 years later, Trasegro Freight Forwarder solves complex transport challenges for business partners in the chemical, food, pharmaceutical, machinery, raw materials, and industrial sectors. These are industries where tight deadlines, strict regulations, and reliability are essential. Whether it involves hazardous goods, ADR or GDP regulations, temperature-sensitive shipments, or precise loading and delivery schedules, team Trasegro is your partner.
Up close and personal
Sjoerd, you choose to hire only qualified freight forwarders with experience. Undoubtedly more expensive, but what’s the advantage?
“Experience saves us and our clients from many expensive mistakes. Freight forwarding looks simple from the outside, but every shipment can contain dozens of variables: documentation, regulations, timing, safety, customs, and miscommunication. Our team understands those dynamics; they can anticipate problems before they happen.
Equally important, experienced people bring calmness into complex situations. That overview is incredibly valuable for our clients who depend on their supply chain. In the end, it’s not a cost; it’s an investment in reliability.”
How did you make the leap from road transport to sea and air freight?
“Quite organically. We started with road transport because that was where the first opportunities were. But customers rarely have only one type of transport need. At some point, a client asked if we could also arrange sea freight, and another needed an urgent air shipment. Instead of saying no we started building the needed structure, slowly but surely. We searched and found qualified business partners. Growth should follow the needs of our customers not our ego.”
What mistakes can you help fellow entrepreneurs avoid?
“Trying to grow too fast without the right foundation. It’s tempting to chase every opportunity, every shipment, every new market. But if your processes, partners, or team are not ready, growth can quickly become chaos. I’ve learned that sustainable growth is better than fast growth. Build your reputation first. Make sure people trust you to deliver what you promise. And always remember logistics is ultimately about people working together under pressure. If the relationships are strong, many problems can be solved.”
